Walter Bonatti made an impression with his incredible ascents. In 1996, he published his Memoirs for the first time. Each chapter is dedicated to one of the mountains that forged his character and his experience: the Grand Capucin, the K2, the Grandes Jorasses, the Matterhorn, the peaks of Patagonia, or the Mont-Blanc massif, where he skimmed death and saved lives. The exceptional career of this pioneer of extreme mountaineering came to an end in 1965, after an unprecedented performance.
